Biography

Alexey Povchiy was born on March 17, 1754. In 1789 he was ordained a priest . March 22, 1816, Alexei Povchiy was elected bishop of Mukachev. On July 28, 1817, the Holy See approved his election, and on November 6, 1817, Alexei Povchiy was ordained bishop by the Bishop of Orad, Samuel Vulcan .

Alexey Povchiy was engaged in charity work. In 1826, he began the construction of a shelter house, which was completed by Bishop Vasily Popovich in 1840. He ordained Bishop George Tarakovich , who became the first bishop of Presov .

Alexey Povchiy died on July 11, 1831.
