History
The monument was inaugurated on January 18, 2006 in Kiev on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. In the years 1924-1926. S.P. Korolev was a student at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute .
The monument was designed by the honored artist, sculptor Nikolai Oleinik. The height of the monument with a bronze bust is 2.5 meters. Installed on Museum Square of the National Technical University of KPI.
The rocket builder’s bust is mounted on a two-meter pedestal made of brown marble in a row with monuments to other famous scientists. On a stone pedestal there is an inscription: “To the founder of practical cosmonautics, the designer of the first artificial Earth satellites and spacecraft, a student of the KPI 1924-1926. from Kiev polytechnics. Sergey Pavlovich Korolev. " And the scientist’s direct speech: "Cosmonautics has an endless future, and its prospects are incomprehensible like the Universe itself."
