Alexander Evgenievich Tikhonov (born August 17, 1952 , Prokopyevsk , Kemerovo Region , RSFSR , USSR [1] ) - employee of the FSB of Russia , head of the Special Purpose Center (CSN) of the FSB of Russia (since 1998), colonel general (1999). Hero of the Russian Federation (2003).

Biography

Alexander Tikhonov was born on August 17, 1952 in the city of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo Region. By nationality - Russian . After graduating from high school, he entered the KGB High School . In 1974 he entered the service of the State Security Committee of the Tajik SSR . Actively participated in the localization of interethnic conflicts of the late 1980s - early 1990s [2] .

In 1991 he was transferred to the central office of the USSR State Security Committee (since 1992 - the Ministry of Security of the Russian Federation , since 1993 - the Federal Counterintelligence Service of the Russian Federation , since 1995 - the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation ). In 1996, he was appointed first deputy head of the Directorate A (Alpha) of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the FSB of Russia [2] .

On October 22, 1998, Lieutenant General Alexander Tikhonov was appointed head of the newly created Special Purpose Center (SPC) of the FSB of Russia . CSN was formed on the basis of two combat departments - “A” (“Alpha”) and “B” (“Pennant”) . This center, under the leadership of A. E. Tikhonov, conducts various operations to combat terrorism and the destruction of militants in the Chechen Republic and beyond [3] [4] .

On January 18, 2003, for the courage and heroism shown during the performance of a special task (according to some data - for the operation to free the hostages at the Dubrovka Theater Center ) by a “ closed decree ” of the President of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Tikhonov was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation [2 ] .
