Biography
Early years. military career
Born March 3, 1967 in Donetsk .
He graduated from school in 1984 . In 1988 - 1996 he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR and the National Guard of Ukraine (commander of an air assault platoon, reconnaissance battalion and intelligence chief of the National Guard regiment).
Education
He has three higher educations:
- in 1988, he graduated from the Baku Higher Military Command School with a degree in engineering;
- in 1998 he graduated from Donetsk State University with a degree in Law;
- In 2006, he graduated from Donetsk National University with a degree in Banking.
Work in the NBU
Since 1996, he has been working in the National Bank of Ukraine : in the Donetsk Oblast Administration, he is an economist of the first category, a leading, chief economist, sector head, deputy head of a department. Since 2002 - Head of the Banking Supervision Department of the NBU Administration in the Donetsk Region .
From July 15, 2010 - Deputy Chairman of the NBU. From December 25, 2012 - and. On January 11, 2013 , on the proposal of the President, he was appointed by the Verkhovna Rada Head of the National Bank of Ukraine .
Charges and wanted
On September 18, 2015, criminal proceedings were opened and, at the same time, the Security Service of Ukraine announced the search for the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Igor Sorkin, and the former Chairman of the Board of Real Bank, Vladimir Agafonov. The criminal proceedings, which are being investigated by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine, are openly based on the fact that Sorkin and Agafonov are taking possession of the National Bank and PJSC Agrarian Fund in the amount of 2.8 billion hryvnias. The press service of the Security Service of Ukraine states that the theft of money was carried out by prior agreement by members of a criminal organization created by the owner of Real Bank and Brokbusinessbank Sergey Kurchenko . On March 1, 2016, the Pechersk District Court of Kiev arrested the former head of the National Bank, Igor Sorkin, in absentia [2] .
