Biography
Born in 695 in Medina. In 739, he raised an anti-Mameyad rebellion in Kufa . Dissatisfied with the passivity of Muhammad al-Bakir, the Shiites united around the energetic Zeid bin Ali, but after ten months the uprising was crushed. Zeid himself died in battle on January 6, 740 , his body was crucified on the cross, and his severed head was sent to Damascus to Caliph Hisham [2] . After the death of 3yda, his adherents stood out in a special religious and political group, which sought to create a theocratic state headed by an imam from the Alid clan [3] .
Views
As a student of Vasil ibn Ata , Zeid ibn Ali recognized the teachings of the Mutazilite theological school on the permissibility of the imamat “surpassed” (that is, Abu Bakr and Umar ) in the presence of “worthy” (that is, Ali ), but was an implacable opponent of the Umayyads [4] . He believed that after the death of the sons of Ali ibn Abu Talib Hassan and Hussein, any Alid can be imam . He also believed that the armed speech of the applicant is evidence of recognition of the right to imamat . In this regard, he was closer to the Kharijits than to the Shiites [3] .
Zeid's idea of predestination ( al-frame ) was similar to the Mutazilite one, which contributed to the spread of Mutazilite views among the Zeidites. Zeid ibn Ali is considered to be the creator of a set of legal norms (Majmu al-fiqh), which are the basis of the Zaidit madhhab [4] . Hadiths were also transferred from him in the Zaydite collection of hadiths Abu Khalida al-Wasiti.
