Story
On Christmas Eve, in the living room of their own house, Sunny Cape (before the Argailov family bought the name Snake Cape), Mrs. Rachel Argyle, the wife of Mr. Leo Argyle, was killed by a poker in the head.
Jack (Dzhako) Argyle, the adopted son of the Argaylov spouses, was scandalous for his murder, short of scandal with his mother before the crime and threatening her with "reckoning" for refusing to give him money. Fingerprints were found on the bloody poker and stolen money. After the arrest, Jaco pleaded not guilty and stated that he had an undeniable alibi for the time of the murder alleged by the police - at that time, between seven and half past seven in the evening, he was driving a passing car along the Redmin-Drymouth highway. However, the lawyers failed to find the witness who brought him up and prove Jack's innocence. For the intentional murder, Jaco was sentenced to life imprisonment, and six months later he died in prison from pneumonia.
Some time later, Dr. Arthur Calgary, in order to return Jack Argyll a good name, began his own investigation, since it was he who, during the murder of Mrs. Rachel, drove the accused in his black sedan and then could not (due to shell shock, and then a long polar expedition) confirm his alibi. The investigation leads Calgary to unexpected conclusions: Jack was not really a killer, but he was not and innocent. In addition, another murder is taking place ...
