History
During the Second World War, Argentina developed a lightweight all-terrain vehicle " Nyanda ". After the production of four prototypes the project was closed. In Brazil, in the early 2000s, Agrale developed the Marroua off -road vehicle, which did not prevent cooperation with Argentina under the Treaty on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Countries, signed on May 17, 1980 . In April 2004, in Rio de Janeiro , representatives of the Argentine and Brazilian armies identified the characteristics for a future light armored car. It was supposed to transport six units of this vehicle by one C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft. In Brazil, the Army Technology Center worked on the project ( port. Centro Tecnológico do Exército - CTEx), in Argentina - the Directorate of Weapons Development and Production of Ground Forces ( used by Dirección de Investigación Desarrollo y Producción de Ejercito - DIDEP). The first tests of prototypes were held in the summer of 2007, including in the harsh conditions of the Andes [1] . Argentina's INVAP (installation on the intelligence version of the Rasit radar) and INTI (National Institute of Industrial Technology) are involved in the development. On the roof of the car cabin it is possible to install a 7.62-mm or 12.7-mm machine gun [1] . In accordance with the signed agreement VLEGA "Gaucho" will be produced in Argentina. The car was launched into series in May 2006 at the facilities of Arsenal No. 601 [2] in Boulogne-sur-Mer (Argentina) , the production potential of which reaches 100-120 units per year. Supposed to supply the armed forces of Argentina and Brazil 1,200 cars [1] .
