Geographical position
The city is located in the southern part of the region, at a distance of approximately 170 kilometers west-north-west (WNW) from the country's capital Accra . The absolute height is 229 meters above sea level [2] .

Economics and Transport
In the vicinity of the city is a gold mine , which is one of the largest in the world. Gold mining has been going on since the XVII century [5] .
Obuasi communication with other cities is carried out by rail and road transport . The nearest civilian airport is located in Kumasi [2] .
