Sir Anand Satyanand ( eng. Sir Anand Satyanand , nickname “Satch” [1] ; July 22, 1944 , Auckland , New Zealand ) - 19th Governor General of New Zealand (from August 23, 2006 to August 23, 2011). The first person of Asian descent to take this post, and the first governor general of New Zealand who did not possess noble titles (however, he was knighted in 2009 ).

Born into an Indo-Fijian family, but spent his whole life in New Zealand. In 1970 he graduated from Auckland University and worked as a lawyer for the next 12 years. In 1982 - 1995 - district judge.
