Teleforce

Teleforce is the emitter of a beam of charged particles, which was invented by Nikola Tesla after studying the Van de Graaff generator . [1] [2] Tesla said that these weapons could be used both against ground infantry and against aircraft. [3] [4] It was mentioned in the New York Sun and The New York Times on July 11, 1934. [5] [6] The press called them "rays of the world" and " rays of death ." [7] [8]

Introduction

The term "Teleforce" means the emitter of a beam of charged particles, which Tesla invented after studying the Van de Graaff generator . [1] [2]

Tesla gave the following description of the action of accelerator weapons:

[Tip] will send concentrated beams of particles through the air with such enormous energy that they will be able to bring down a fleet of 10,000 enemy aircraft 200 miles from the borders of the defending nation and destroy entire armies on the march. [3] [4]

Tesla's records indicate that the device is based on a narrow beam of small tungsten particles that are accelerated by high voltage (through a device similar to its amplification transmitter). [2] Particles discharged from a pipe by electrostatic repulsion can fly at a speed 48 times the speed of sound.

In a letter to J.P. Morgan on November 29, 1934, Tesla describes a weapon:

I recently made discoveries of invaluable value ... Aircraft completely demoralized the whole world, especially in cities such as London and Paris, people in mortal fear of aerial bombardments. The new tool that I improved creates absolute protection against these and other forms of attacks ... These new discoveries, which I experimented on a limited scale, made a huge impression. One of the most pressing problems seems to be the defense of London, and I wrote to some influential friends in England, hoping that my plan would be adopted without delay. The Russians really want to protect their borders from the Japanese invasion, and I made them an offer that is being seriously considered.

Technology

In general, the device technology is as follows:

  • A device for demonstrating energy in air, and not in a high vacuum as in the past.
  • A mechanism generating tremendous electrical force.
  • A means of amplifying an electric force created in a mechanism generating electric force.
  • A new method of obtaining tremendous electrical repulsive force. It will be the emitter, or weapon, of this invention. [9] [10]

The tube will emit a beam of highly charged particles without scattering even at a large distance. Since the cross section of charge carriers can be reduced to almost microscopic sizes, and charged particles can self-focus using “gas focusing”, a huge concentration of energy can be achieved regardless of distance. In 1940, Tesla estimated the cost of each station at $ 2 million, which can be built in a matter of months.

Tesla claimed to have worked on directional energy weapons from the early 1900s until his death. [11] [12] In 1937, at a dinner arranged in honor of his death rays, Tesla declared: “But this is not an experiment ... I built, demonstrated and applied it. It will take a little time and I can show it to the whole world. " [2]

In 1937, Tesla wrote a treatise entitled "The Art of Radiation of Directed Dispersed Energy in Natural Media" about weapons on beams of charged particles [13] . Tesla issued a document in an attempt to explain the technical details of "a superweapon that will put an end to the war." This treatise is currently in the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade. He describes an open-ended vacuum tube that allows particles to be emitted, a method for charging particles in millions of volts, and a method for creating and directing a dispersed stream of particles (through electrostatic repulsion). [13] Tesla tried to interest the US Department of Defense , Great Britain, the USSR and Yugoslavia in this device. [14] [15]

Tesla claimed that during the negotiations there were attempts to steal the invention. His room was hacked, and his documents were carefully examined, but thieves, or spies, were left empty-handed. He said that there was no danger that his invention could be stolen because he did not have time to describe it on paper. A detailed diagram of the Teleforce weapon was in his head. [sixteen]
