The song “Wings” was again recorded in 2011 for the album Ringo 2012 [3] .
Starr talked about rewriting the song: “This is the song I first recorded for the Ringo the 4th album, when“ album “meant“ vinyl disc ”. It was a completely different time than it is now, and this song was one of those that I wanted to do someday someday. I wrote "Wings" in 1977 with Vinnie Ponzia in New York - and he did not know that I had already completed everything in her; I wanted to surprise him, and sent a song to him in the mail ... In the last two years I have listened to quite a lot of reggae music , and this style is quite noticeable in this album. What can I say? What surrounds me affects me. I have always loved sentimentality in this song - and I like that we finally made it right ” [4] .
The recording of the concert performance of the song by Starr and his All-Starr Band in 2012 in Atlanta ( USA ) was included in the charity collection for the benefit of the victims of Hurricane Sandy ; compilation released under the name Songs After Sandy: Friends of the Red Hook for Sandy Relief [5] [6] .
In a review for Ultimate Classic Rock, critic Billy Dukes called the remake of the song “less passionate, with a somewhat lifeless vocal” compared to the original 1977 version [7] .
Starr announced a kind of international competition among the creators of music videos to shoot the video for the song "Wings"; he chose the best version of the clip himself [8] . Starr called the winning clip, shot by a young Canadian director from Vancouver, Jem Garrard, "a great little video" [9] .
