Ghaferberg, Edith Gustavovna

Lucie Ellen Edith Gustavovna Ghaferberg ( 1906 , St. Petersburg - 1971 ) - an ethnographer-Iranian scholar, researcher of the semi-nomadic Iranian peoples of the USSR ( Dzhamshidy , Hazaras , Baluchi ), the spouse of an ethnographer L. P. Potapova .

Biography

Born in St. Petersburg. Dropped in 1919, was brought up in an orphanage. In 1924 she entered the Leningrad Geographical Institute . 1926-1927 - participated in the expedition to study the Kurds of Armenia. 1928–1929 - Central Asian ethnological expedition (led by V. V. Barthold ). During this expedition she worked together with D. D. Bukinich and I. I. Zarubin . 1930 - the end of the ethnographic department of the Leningrad University. In 1934 he began working in the Front and Central Asia department of the Institute of Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

She was buried at the Komarovsky village cemetery .
