Content
General Information
The name Moroleón is compound: Moro from morar - to live, reside , and León - in honor of General Antonio Leon , a participant in the Mexican War of Independence [3] .
The area of the municipality is 160 km², which is 0.52% of the total area of the state [4] , and the highest point is located in the village of Amoles and is 2,361 meters [1] .
It borders with other municipalities of the state of Guanajuato : in the north and west with Yuriria , in the east with Uryangato , and also in the south with another Mexican state, Michoacan .

The municipality was formed in 1857 [3] , it consists of 27 settlements, the largest of which are:

According to statistical data of 2000, the working population is employed by sector in the following proportions: agriculture, cattle breeding and fishing - 6.2%, industry and construction - 46.6%, services and tourism - 44.8%, other - 2.4% [4] .
Infrastructure
According to the statistics of 2010, the infrastructure is developed as follows [4] :

- water supply: 98.8%;
- water disposal: 95.9%.
