Biography
Entering the University of Minnesota, then transferred to the University of California. During World War II he served in the US Navy. In the post-war period he was engaged in business, he was vice president of labor relations at Lockheed Corporation.
- 1970-1973 - US Secretary of Labor. During this period, Congress passed laws on occupational safety and health, which expanded the powers of the ministry. Due to the economic crisis caused by the Vietnam War, the politician introduced a bill on emergency employment in 1971, which provided for the expansion of programs to create new jobs and train personnel.
- 1974-1977 - US Ambassador to Japan. There he became interested in Senry poetry, and upon returning to the United States published a collection of poetry of his own composition, “American Senry.”
In 1977, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uranium Mining Company. He was an associate professor at the University of California and a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.
