Biography
Grigory Dmitryuk was born on March 12, 1920 in Vladivostok in a working family (his father worked as a fireman at a shipyard). He graduated from nine classes of secondary school No. 28 of Vladivostok and Vladivostok Aero Club.
In December 1938 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He graduated from the Chita Military Aviation School of Pilots in August 1940. He served as a junior pilot of the 168th reserve aviation regiment in the Far East . In December 1940, the 97th Combined Aviation Division , 15th Army Air Force, Far Eastern Front ) was transferred to the 301st Fighter Aviation Regiment : junior pilot, since September 1941 - flight commander . Since January 1942, he was the flight commander of the 2nd reserve fighter aviation regiment ( Moscow Military District ), which was stationed in the Gorky Region .
Since May 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War . He went through the whole war as part of the 19th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment ( 7th Air Army , Karelian Front ). He was a flight commander, from August 1942 - deputy squadron commander, from March 1944 - deputy squadron commander and navigator, and from April 1944 - squadron commander. He flew on the fighters Kittyhawk and Aerocobra . In August 1943 he was sent to study, and in March 1944 Dmitriuk graduated from advanced training courses for squadron commanders in Lipetsk . He participated in the defense of the Arctic , in air defense of Murmansk and the Kirov Railway , in the Petsamo-Kirkenes offensive operation [1] . In total, he made 206 sorties, in 37 air battles he personally shot down 8 and in a group of 14 enemy aircraft [1] . Itself was once shot down and wounded in an aerial battle over enemy territory, four days on the tundra made its way to their own, was saved by the fighters of the ski reconnaissance squad, who accidentally met it [2] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 2, 1944 for captain Grigory Dmitriyuk awarded the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star " Under the number 4313 [1] .
After the war, Dmitriuk continued to serve in the Soviet Army . Since March 1946, he served in the 821st Fighter Aviation Regiment ( 9th Air Army , Primorsky Military District ) - squadron commander. Since December 1946, he served in the 494th Fighter Aviation Regiment ( 190th Fighter Aviation Division , 9th Air Army , Primorsky Military District ): squadron commander, from June 1947 - deputy commander and navigator of the squadron. Since September 1950 - Head of the Air Rifle Service of the 190th Fighter Air Division ( 54th Air Army ). In December 1951 he was appointed commander of the 821st Fighter Aviation Regiment of this division.
From January 14 to August 18, 1952, the Guard Lieutenant Colonel G. F. Dmitryuk took part in the Korean War at the head of the 821st IAP. During this period, he made 51 sorties, conducted 31 air battles, in which he personally shot down 5 US aircraft. He won all victories over fighter jets. In addition to personal courage, he was a skilled combat commander: pilots of the regiment shot down 44 American aircraft, their own losses amounted to 14 aircraft and 4 dead pilots.
Twice becoming an ace in two wars, on the whole G. F. Dmitriuk shot down 13 German and American planes in person, 14 in the group.
After the regiment returned from North Korea, he commanded it for about another year, and in the summer of 1953 he was sent to study. In 1956 he graduated from the Air Force Academy in Monino . Since November 1956 - Deputy Commander of the 27th Fighter Aviation Division for the flight ( 37th Air Army , Northern Group of Forces , Poland ). Since September 1957 - commander of the 131st Fighter Aviation Division ( 57th Air Army , Carpathian Military District ). Since April 1959, he served as first deputy commander, and since November 1960, deputy commander of the 41st Fighter Aviation Division of the Air Defense ( 76th Air Army , Leningrad Military District ). Since August 1961 - commander of the 303rd Fighter Aviation Division ( 1st Air Army , Far Eastern Military District . Since August 1966 he served as deputy commander of the Air Force of the Leningrad Military District for combat training and universities, and when in February 1968 on the basis of the district air force The 76th Air Army was re-established, continued to serve in its headquarters in the same position, was relieved of his duties and transferred to the Air Force Commander-in-Chief in August 1969, and Major General G.
