1979 World Figure Skating Championships

The 1979 World Figure Skating Championships were held by the International Skating Union on March 13-18 in Vienna , Austria . Competitions were held in the categories of women's single skating , men's single skating , pair skating and ice dancing . The world champion among women was the US representative Linda Fratiani , among the men the representative of the USSR Vladimir Kovalev , among the pairs the representatives of the USA Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner , the representatives of the USSR Natalya Linichuk and Gennady Karponosov won the dances.
