Biography
From the nobles . The son of college assessor Trofim Ivanovich Obukhov (1818 β after 1877) and Elizabeth Ilyinichna Boratynskaya (1825-1912). Uncle of the famous opera singer Nadezhda Obukhova , composer Nikolai Obukhov and actress Varvara Obukhova .
In 1877 he graduated from the Alexander Military School in the 1st category, from where he was released by the ensign into the 2nd Spare Artillery Battery. He participated in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 .
In 1879, while continuing to serve in Moscow, he began to take singing lessons from Ernst Tagliabue . He performed in concerts and amateur opera performances. In 1880 he retired and left for Italy, where he studied singing with Vannuchini , Gambodzhi and E. Chimma. Then for eight years he performed in Italian opera houses under the pseudonym Orbiliary . In 1896 he returned to Russia, participated in charity concerts in the Bolshoi and Maly theaters. Then he again left for Italy, where until 1898 he performed on opera stages.
In 1899-1902 he was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater. The first installments of Obukhov were Escamilio in Carmen and Valentine in Faust . In addition, he performed the parts of Onegin in Eugene Onegin , Georges Germont in La Traviata and Count de Nevers in Huguenots . Since 1902 he was in charge of the mounting part of the theater.
In 1910-1917 he was the manager of the Moscow office of the Imperial Theaters . With his participation in the Bolshoi, Rimsky-Korsakov's Tale of Tsar Saltan and Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung were staged. He was a member of the Moscow Automobile Society .
After the revolution he emigrated to France. He died in 1928 in the Parisian suburb of Billancourt . Buried in a local cemetery.
