Alpenzia resort is one of two ski resorts of international level (the second in Muju ). It is located in the village of Dekvaljön Myeon, in Pyeongchang County. Alpenzia has 6 slopes for skiing and snowboarding, and runs up to 1.4 km (0.87 miles) long for beginners and advanced skiers, and an area designed for snowboarders. The resort is open all year. The Alpensia Ski Jumping Stadium is located within the resort and will be designated for ski jumping competitions during the 2018 Winter Olympics.

History
The decision to build the resort was made in 2003, as part of the preparation of Gangwon-do Province for the Winter Olympics. The resort was built on the site of vacant land. The facility was completed in 2011. In 2012, it was announced that the resort was in danger of bankruptcy, accumulating losses of $ 55 million per year. This was refuted by Kim Jin-Sun from POCOG. In 2013, Alpenzia was one of the venues for the Special Winter Olympics.
2018 Winter Olympics
Alpenzia has become the venue for outdoor competitions at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The following facilities will be located in Alpenzia:

- Ski Jumping Park Alpenzia - Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined
- Alpensia Center for Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon , where the 2009 Biathlon World Championships were held - biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined
- Alpensia Luge Center - Luge, Bobsled and Skeleton
- Yonghyun - skiing (giant slalom, slalom).
