Indications for frontlifting

Patients with such disadvantages as resorting to frontlifting include:

  • unattractive configuration, the appearance of eyebrows ;
  • deep brow folds;
  • low eyebrows, due to which excess skin is created on the upper eyelids;
  • heavy look;
  • drooping of the outer edge of the upper eyelid due to drooping eyebrows;
  • angry, sad, tired appearance;
  • pronounced transverse wrinkles on the forehead;
  • wrinkles near the nose ;
  • sagging skin of the temples, forehead and corners of the eyes ;
  • drooping tip of the nose , eyebrows;
  • continuous omission of the skin of the upper part of the face .

Frontlifting is usually done by women and men aged 35-60. But surgery is possible if the problems listed above occur in younger patients. An eyebrow and forehead lift is considered a rather effective operation, which leads to pronounced and long-term results if it is performed by qualified surgeons and patients follow all their recommendations. After frontlifting, the patient ideally looks 5-10 years younger: wrinkles disappear, eyebrows rise, smooth, and the face becomes more affable.

Preparing for surgery

Before frontlifting, the surgeon preliminarily examines the muscles , face skin , and bones of the skull . The patient at this stage should inform the doctor about previous operations and their chronic diseases. This information will help to avoid complications not only during, but also after surgery. Frontlifting is performed under general anesthesia . During the operation, the scalp is involved, but the hair is not cut, but is collected in bundles that do not interfere with the operation.

Frontlifting Types

  1. Open frontlifting is a plastic surgery to lift the eyebrows and forehead, in which directly through the bicoronary incision penetrate the tissue. The incision is made behind the hairline along the forehead. Through this incision, excess fat is removed, forehead tissue is redistributed, tightened, the muscles of the infraorbital and frontal areas change, the skin is cut off, etc.
  2. Endoscopic frontlifting is a plastic surgery to lift the eyebrows and forehead, in which they penetrate into the operated space through 2-3 small incisions (about 1.5 cm each). Through these cuts, instruments and a video camera of a suitable size are introduced inside, which allows you to monitor the operation. Through such incisions, the forehead skin is peeled off and fixed in the desired position. The area where there are few blood vessels exfoliates, therefore, with such an operation, there is minimal bleeding. The skin is not removed, but redistributed, and then fixed with sutures in a certain position.

Endoscopic frontlifting is a more modern and demanded operation than open frontlifting. The advantages of frontlifting include:

  • least trauma for blood vessels, hair follicles and nerve endings;
  • shorter operation time;
  • less pronounced scars from the seams;
  • shorter and painful postoperative period;
  • minimal risk of complications due to small incisions.

Open front lifting is more indicated for patients older than 50 years, since endoscopic front lifting can not give them the desired result, because during this operation the skin is redistributed, but not removed. But in each case, the method of operation is chosen by the surgeon himself.

Possible complications of frontlifting

  1. postoperative scars (usually disappear within a year) ;
  2. hematomas , numbness of the forehead, swollen face, pain (usually disappear within two weeks);
  3. change in facial expressions of the upper part of the face;
  4. displacement of the hair back or closer to the eyes.

Contraindications

  • impaired blood coagulation;
  • skin that has lost elasticity;
  • diabetes;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • high blood pressure;
  • thyroid disease;
  • severely damaged skin of the frontal area;
  • cardiovascular, mental, oncological diseases.

Rehabilitation

The rehabilitation period after open frontlifting lasts about 2-3 weeks, after the endoscopic - for one week. Sutures are removed after a week. After a few months, the functions of the skin tissue of the patient are fully normalized. About a month after the operation, it is better to refrain from smoking, alcohol, hot water procedures and strong physical exertion.
