In 2006, the state project “Health” was launched in Russia, which increased the availability of modern treatment. The program included the opening of 14 federal centers of high medical technology, two of them on the profile of Neurosurgery (in Tyumen and Novosibirsk).

In 2009, the leadership of the Tyumen region and the Government of the Russian Federation invited a neurosurgeon of the highest category, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Albert Akramovich Sufianov to head the institutions and participate in the preparation of the center for work.

The first operation took place on April 25, 2011.

Medical Assistance

The medical assistance provided by the Center is provided for in Article 34 of the Federal Law of November 21, 2011 No. 323-ФЗ “On the Basics of Protecting the Health of Citizens in the Russian Federation” [10] . Within the state order, medical assistance to citizens of the Russian Federation is provided free of charge, regardless of the region of their residence [9] .

The professionalism of doctors is aimed at the surgical treatment of the most complex and relevant diseases of the nervous system, such as:

hydrocephaluspituitary adenoma
craniosynostosisneuropathic pain syndromes
lumbosacral lipomahemifacial spasm
cerebral aneurysmtrigeminal neuralgia
stenosing diseases of the brachiocephalic arteriespharmacoresistant and symptomatic epilepsy
spinal stenosisParkinson's disease
tumors of the spinal cord and braincarpal tunnel syndrome and other tunnel syndromes

and other pathologies.

Over the period the center has existed, more than 18 thousand neurosurgery operations have been carried out in it. Every year, the center’s doctors carry out about 3,500 thousand high-tech operations, 800 of which are performed by the head physician of the FCS Albert Akramovich Sufianov.

The work of the reception and advisory department [1] provides a high-quality and timely consultation of neurosurgeons and other specialized specialists: an ophthalmologist, urologist, endocrinologist, otorhinolaryngologist, pediatric neurologist, pediatrician.

To increase the availability of high-tech care in the center for patients, distance counseling was organized [2] through the institution’s website .

Applied Technologies

Today, in terms of its equipment, the center is among the leading clinics in the world. So, in the children's department, the method of venous vacuum blood sampling is used, which reduces the patient's discomfort and the risk of infection [11] . For the first time in the country, the endoscopic removal of the intervertebral hernia according to the technique of the German company JOIMAX, which allows the operation to be performed without the use of anesthesia, was introduced in the vertebrology department [12] . The neuro-oncology department for the first time in Russia mastered the Norwegian system of dynamic 3D neural navigation SonoWand [13] .

The minimally invasive surgery itself is provided at the Center thanks to the first in Russia mobile O-arm ® Surgical Imaging System tomograph of the American company Medtronic [7] .

In 2015, the seventh operating room was launched. This is the only hybrid intellectual operating room in Russia with an expert CT scanner of expert level, which is integrated with navigation systems in automatic mode, which can significantly increase the effectiveness of surgical treatment of the most complex diseases.

The center uses magnetic resonance tomographs (1.5T, 3T); computed tomograph (CT) SIEMENS SOMATOM Emotion ; intraoperative ICG control, intraoperative Dopplerography, BrainLab navigation station, intraoperative neurophysiological control, state-of-the-art Carl Zeiss, Leica, Pentero 900 microscopes, Zoring ultrasound aspiration systems and high-frequency electrical equipment Aesculap, Stryker, Medtronic and much more. Successfully applied advanced techniques of intraoperative fluoroscopy and angiography.
