T-74 - the Soviet caterpillar tractor of traction class 3 tons, manufactured by the Kharkov Tractor Plant . Created by modernizing the DT-54 , T-75 tractors. The tractor is designed for agricultural, transport work in temperate regions. It was produced from April 1962 to November 24, 1983. The number of tractors produced was 880,792. [1] It was also produced by the Altai Tractor Plant.

Design
The tractor is structurally and externally similar to the DT-54 and T-75 tractors. The tractor skeleton is a channel frame, on which the engine is located in the front part, and the cab in the back. The power transmission consists of a clutch, propeller shaft, gearbox, final drive, rotation mechanism, final drives.
The SMD-14A engine is a four-cylinder, diesel, in-line with a vortex combustion chamber. Cyclone air purifier with a suction tube extending into the exhaust pipe of the engine. As a result of the vacuum generated by the exhaust gases in the suction pipe, the dust collected in the bunker of the air cleaner is sucked off and carried away by the exhaust gases. An oil cooler is included in the lubrication system, which is disconnected from the system in winter by moving the switch. To start the engine at low temperatures, a pre-heater is installed on the intake manifold. The starting device is a PD-10M-2 gasoline engine with a single-stage gearbox.
Two-plate clutch. Clutch release drive - mechanical.
The transmission is mechanical, six-speed, controlled by two levers. The first lever is a gear group (workers, elevated workers, neutral.). If there is a creeper , then there is a slowed-down group. The second lever - three forward gears, reverse, neutral. With the clutch disengaged, first engage the gear, then the gear group. The locking mechanism does not allow the gearboxes to move until the clutch is completely disconnected and the input shaft stops.
The frame consists of two longitudinal channels connected to each other in front by a cast front beam, in the middle - two transverse bars, behind the axle.
The suspension is balanced.
The working equipment is represented by a separate-aggregate hydraulic system, a rear attachment, a power take-off shaft. Three-spool hydraulic system distributor.
Heated enclosed cabin. The cabin has a double seat with a soft back. Warm air from the engine is supplied through a casing inside which there is an adjustment flap. There is a manual wiper on the right windshield.
Governing bodies: diesel revolutions are regulated by means of the lever. The tractor is rotated using one of two levers and one of two caterpillar braking pedals. You can only shift gears with the clutch fully disengaged. The main working gears are the second or fourth. The fifth and sixth is used for working with special machines and for transporting goods. First gear is used only to overcome short-term high resistances.
The electrical equipment operates with direct current with a nominal voltage of 12 V. The electrical equipment includes: a 180 W generator, a relay-regulator, a battery, a starter motor starter, an audible signal, an ammeter, four headlights, two instrument panel illumination lamps, and a lamp for lighting the cabin. Cabin fan motor.
