Fufii

Fufii ( lat. Fufii ) is an ancient Roman plebeian clan whose representatives, mentioned by ancient writers, date back to a relatively late time [1] . From Fufiev known:

  • Quint Fufiy Kalen (d. 40 BC) - the tribunes of 61 years BC e. , like-minded Claudius and Caesar . Thanks to the patronage of the latter, he achieved praetorship in 59 BC. e. , and in that year he managed to introduce a judicial law, by virtue of which the three estates participating in the jury had to vote separately. In the last year of the Gallic and during the internecine wars, Fufiy was a legate under Caesar, fulfilling the orders assigned to him: for example, he, after Caesar returned from Spain, had to transfer the rest of the army after Caesar to Epirus ; even before the battle of Farsal, he walked along Achaia and took the cities of Delphi , Thebes and Orchomen , later Athens , Megara and Patras . In 47 BC e. thanks to the support of Caesar, he was held in the consuls . After the death of Caesar, Fufiy declared himself a supporter of Anthony , but at the end of the Peruzian war ( 41 BC ), just when he had to face Octavian, he died. According to Appian, Fufiy saved 43 years BC who was in the list of scripts . e. the famous Roman polygistor Varron [1] .
  • Lucius Fufiy Kalen (I century BC) - Senator , younger brother of the previous one. He participated as a witness in the process of Guy Verres in 70 BC. e. and as an accuser - in the trial of Quintus Mucius in 64 BC. e [2] .
  • Fufiy Gemin - governor of Pannonia under Augustus [1] .
  • Guy Fufiy Gemin - Consul Suffect 2 years BC e .; perhaps the son or nephew of the previous one.
  • Guy Fufiy Gemin (d. 31) - the son of the previous one, consul of 29 years , under Tiberius enjoyed the location of Libya , but executed by this emperor. His mother, Vicia , was also executed for mourning the fate of her son [1] .
