Background
After the Portuguese captured Malacca in 1511 [2] [3], the city was constantly attacked by neighboring states, especially the Aceh Sultanate , whose troops first besieged Malacca in 1537 [2] .
Shortly before the siege of the fortress, the Turks, in order to destroy the Portuguese colonies in India and Southeast Asia, entered into an alliance with the Aceh Sultanate [4] . They could not supply him with weapons, since at the same time, in addition to the expedition to Aceh, Turkish troops invaded Crete and besieged the rebellious Aden [4] .
Siege
The size of the Turkish fleet was 300 ships, soldiers - 15,000 people [2] [3] .
The siege by the Turks of Malacca was unsuccessful, and they, under the pressure of the Portuguese and Johorites under the general command of the House of Leonis Pereira, were forced to retreat [2] .
Consequences
In the following years, the Achekhs repeatedly besieged the city. Frequent wars weakened the Portuguese. In the 1570s, they invaded the Moluccas and were quickly defeated by the troops of the Sultan [4] .
