History

The cemetery was built by the Department of Military Graves of K. and K. of the military commandant’s office in Krakow in 1915 according to the design of the Austrian architect Dusan Jurkovic . On a rectangular cemetery with an area of 545 square meters, there are 7 mass graves and 56 individual graves, in which 22 Austrian, 46 German and 46 Russian soldiers are buried.

In the 90s of the 20th century, the cemetery was repaired by the efforts of the Dembovec commune administration, after which funeral tablets with the names of the buried were mixed up and misplaced.

On June 4, 1996, the cemetery was included in the register of historical monuments of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship (No. A - 294).

Description

At the cemetery is a monument in the form of a hollow rotunda . Two officers of the German army, one Austrian and one Russian soldier, are buried in this rotunda. You can enter the rotunda through a low located square entrance. It is assumed that the burial in the rotund of military personnel of the warring armies was purposefully done as a sign of future reconciliation. Above the entrance is a plate with an inscription in German :

WIR ZOGEN ZUM STREIT UND FANDEN FRIEDEN(We went to battle and found peace)
