Emanuel Arnold ( Czech Emanuel Arnold ; November 9, 1800 , Mnichovo , Austrian Empire (now in the region of Mladá Boleslav, Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic ) - January 4, 1869 , Prague ) - Czech political figure, radical democratic journalist, publicist, writer.

Biography

Until 1842 he worked as an official in Turnov , was engaged in agriculture in a rented estate. Then he moved to Prague.

He was distinguished by his free thought in political and religious directions. For his leaflet against the Jesuits returning to Austria , Držená řeč od jenerála jezuitů v tajném sněmu v Římě was expelled from Prague. Leaflets and brochures he wrote were widely distributed throughout the country.

In 1848 he returned to Prague. He took an active part in the revolution of 1848-1849 in the Austrian Empire . In 1849 he participated in the preparation of the uprising against Austria, but the conspiracy was uncovered and in May 1849 E. Arnoldi was forced to flee to Leipzig .

For active participation in the revolutionary movement was extradited from Saxony to his homeland. He was sentenced to death by a military court, but then the execution was replaced by a twenty-year sentence.

In 1857, E. Arnold was amnestied and released by the manifesto of Emperor Franz Joseph I. He was allowed to return to Prague, where he lived until the end of his life in 1869.

Creativity

He wrote "Deje Husituv", that is, "The History of the Hussites" - an essay of a more modern political than historical nature. In the same vein, he edited the periodical Obcanské noviny. After that, he published the book Kràtké vylícení hospodárství sestihoného strídavého a porovnání s 4 honym nestrídavym.
