Biography
Maxim Dmitriev was born on September 14, 1913 in Kazan (now Tatarstan ) in a working class family. He graduated from a junior high school, then the school of factory apprenticeship of fur workers, after which he worked as a mechanic in a fur factory. In 1935, Dmitriev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Participated in battles on Lake Hassan . By February 1940, Petty Officer Maxim Dmitriev was the senior tank driver of the 109th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the 86th Motor Rifle Division of the 7th Army of the North-Western Front. He distinguished himself during the Soviet-Finnish war [1] .
February 27, 1940, when one of the Soviet tanks was shot down, Dmitriev blocked his tank from the Finnish fire, making it possible to repair the damage. With gunshots, he destroyed several enemy firing points [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 21, 1940, for "exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism shown", Sergeant Maxim Dmitriev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 497 [1 ] .
He participated in the Great Patriotic War. He continued to serve in the Soviet Army. He graduated from the Kiev Tank Technical School , then the Higher Academic Courses. He worked as deputy head of the Kiev Tank Technical School. In 1966, with the rank of Colonel Dmitriev, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Kiev , died on November 1, 1990, and was buried at the Lukyanovsky military cemetery in Kiev [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
