Stacilia

Statilii or Statsilii ( lat. Statilii ) - the ancient Roman plebeian genus of Sabella origin ^[1] . Of his representatives are known:

• Titus Statilius Taurus (Titus Statilius Taurus, 60-10 BC) - Octavian's legate during the latter's war with Sextus Pompey (36 BC), who conquered Sicily and occupied both African provinces of Lepidus. In 31 BC e. received the main command over the ground army in the war with Anthony , whom he managed to defeat even before the battle of Actium . In 29 BC e. Stacilius commanded troops in Spain and conquered the Cantabras , Vaccians and Asturians ; in 26 B.C. e. was consul along with Augustus. After Agrippa and the Patron of Arts, Stacilius was the closest person of Augustus, who in 16 BC. e. entrusted him with the city prefecture. ^[one]

• Titus Statilius Taurus Corvinus (Titus Statilius Taurus Corvinus, d. 53 years) - consul for 45 years , later proconsul of Africa. In the year 53, Stacilius, according to the machinations of Agrippina, who envied his magnificent gardens, was accused of magic and an attempt on the imperial house, but committed a suicide before pronouncing the sentence. ^[one]

• Stacilia Messalina , who was first a mistress, then the third wife of Nero . Later, she was the bride of Oton , and upon the death of the latter, she retired to private life and indulged in literary pursuits. ^[one]
