History
On February 20, 1903, Pope Leo XIII issued the Actum praeclare log , which he established the diocese of Cienfuegos to separate from the diocese of San Cristobal de la Havana (today is the Archdiocese of Havana). . On the same day, the diocese of Cienfuegos entered the metropolis of Santiago de Cuba .
On June 30, 1971, the diocese of Cienfuegos was renamed the diocese of Cienfuegos Santa Clara. On April 1, 1995, the diocese of Cienfuegos-Santa Clara was divided into two separate dioceses of Cienfuegos and Santa Clara .
On December 5, 1998, the diocese of Cienfuegos entered the metropolis of Camaguey.
