Serov, Vladimir Nikolaevich

Father - Serov Nikolay Alexandrovich (1901-1942), mother - Fedina Raisa Zakharovna (1900-1982).

He graduated from the Gorky State Medical Institute (1955). Then he worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist at a district hospital in the village of Ust-Kulom (Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic).

In 1958 he entered the graduate school of the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Ministry of Health of the USSR, in 1962 he defended his thesis “Ovarian Cysts”, and in 1969 a doctoral thesis devoted to the problems of diagnosis and treatment of postpartum neuroendocrine diseases.

Since 1961, an assistant at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the 1st IM Sechenov Medical Institute. After he became head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Moscow Medical Dental Institute. From 1995 to 2007, he was Deputy Director for Research at the Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In the 1980s he gave popular lectures on sexology for doctors ^[1] .

In 1982 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, in 1999 - an academician of the RAMS. Since 2008, President of the Russian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He prepared 87 candidates and 52 doctors of sciences.

Field of scientific activity of V. Serov: emergency conditions in obstetrics and gynecology - bleeding and hemorrhagic shock, sepsis and obstetric peritonitis , cardiovascular diseases during pregnancy, gynecological endocrinology, precancerous endometrial diseases. He developed the parameters of infusion therapy for hemorrhagic complications, studied thrombosis in obstetric practice, amniotic fluid embolism . One of the first to describe the metabolic syndrome in women after childbirth, calling it postpartum neuroendocrine syndrome ^[2] .

VN Serov is a member of the editorial boards and editorial boards of the journals Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproduction, Gynecology. Member of the editorial board of the First Medical Channel.

Wife - Serova Margarita Viktorovna (born in 1931).

Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

Prize named after V.F.Snegirev of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1987) - for a series of works on obstetric bleeding and thrombosis in obstetrics.

He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor.

Serov Vladimir Nikolaevich is the author of more than 600 scientific works, including 35 monographs. He has 18 copyright certificates and patents on new methods of diagnosis and therapy in obstetrics and gynecology.
