Kupela ( French Koupéla ) is a city and urban community in Burkina Faso , in the East-Central region of the country. The administrative center of the province of Curiteng .

Geography
The city is located in the east of the central part of the country, 137 km east of Ouagadougou and 82 km west of Fada Ngurma , at an altitude of 296 m above sea level [1] . It is the center of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kupel .

According to 2013 data, the population of the city was 23 106 people [2] . The population of the city commune according to the 2006 census is 58 632 people [3] . The main ethnic group is Mosi .
