General Information
The city is located in the valley of the Mendi River, at an altitude of 1849 m above sea level [1] . The highway connects Mendi with Mount Hagen . There are tea and coffee plantations near Mendi.
In 2000, tribal conflicts erupted in Mendi; as a result of the clashes, several dozen people were killed [2] .
