The International Film Festival “Kyrgyzstan is a country of short films” is an annual film festival of short films of the CIS , Baltic States and Georgia . The festival was founded by a public figure, film director and producer Sadyk Sher-Niyaz in 2011 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan . Traditionally, the opening of the festival takes place on December 12 ^[1] and lasts until December 15. The opening date of the film festival is timed to the birthday of the great Kyrgyz national writer Chingiz Torokulovich Aitmatov . The festival was organized by the Aytysh Public Foundation, the Aytysh Film Film Studio and the Union of Cinematographers of the Kyrgyz Republic .

Content

General Program

The festival provides two competitive programs: national and international. Short fiction, documentary and animated films made in Kyrgyzstan , as well as in the CIS countries , the Baltic States and Georgia , and completed in the year in which the application is submitted are allowed to participate in the film festival.

Festival Goal

The aim of the festival is the development of cultural dialogue between the CIS countries , the Baltic States and Georgia , the preservation of identity and the development of traditional cultural values against the backdrop of globalization throughout the world. The film festival seeks to expand the boundaries of the creation of short films in order to direct society to the sources of moral, aesthetic and spiritual ideals . The festival is of great importance in the development of cinema and the culture of modern Kyrgyzstan .

Film Festival Awards

The total prize fund is 500 000 soms (KGS). The awards are awarded in four nominations for both competitive programs:

"Best movie"
"Best Direction"
"Special Jury Prize"
"People's Choice Award"

Since 2012, the winners also receive as a reward a figurine of a film festival .
