Motive is a Canadian television series that premiered on February 3, 2013 on CTV , immediately after the broadcast of the Super Bowl [1] . The premiere attracted 1.23 million viewers, which allowed the series to take first place in the list of the most successfully launched Canadian programs in the 2012-13 season [2] .

In the center of the plot of the series is a detective and a single mother who uses unusual methods of investigating crimes. In January 2013, it was announced that ABC bought the rights to broadcast the series in the summer of 2013 in the US [3] [4] . In May 2013, the series was extended for the second season [5] , which started on May 21, 2014 [6] . June 1, 2015 the series was extended for the fourth season in Canada, but closed in the United States [7] .
