Băile Govora ( rum. Băile Govora ) is a city and balneoclimatic resort in Valcea , about 20 km southwest of Ramnicu Valcea and west of the Olt River. Notable features of the city (in addition to its mineral springs) are the Govor Abbey (built in the 15th century) and the nearby Dintr un Lemn monastery (16th-17th centuries).

Govor Abbey was the place where Matei Basarab introduced the first printing press in Wallachia . In 1640, the Book of Hours was printed, the first liturgical book in Wallachia in Romanian language, and the canonical collection Small Nomocanon, also called the “Rules of Govory” ( “Pravila cea mică” or “Pravila de la Govora” ), intended for confessors. Translation of the collection was carried out by the monk Michael (Moksa or Moksily) [3] .

Content
History
In 1876, locals discovered salt water and mud used to treat rheumatic diseases. About 10 years later, the first base with warm baths was built. After 1950, Băile Govora became a city, hotels, hostels and treatment facilities were created.
Resort
A balneoclimatic resort in Romania , in the foothills of the Southern Carpathians , at an altitude of 360 m. The climate is temperate continental with mild winters (average January temperature –3 ° C) and warm summers (average July temperature 19 ° C). Sodium chloride iodine-bromide and sulfide mineral waters are used for baths, swimming in pools, inhalations and drinking treatment. Treatment of patients with diseases of the respiratory system , organs of movement and support, cardiovascular and nervous systems . [4] .
Over 1400 tourists can visit the resort annually. In addition to treatment, tourists can visit many historical monuments.
