Biography
Born on August 1, 1923 in Trnyatsi (near Uba). After graduating from school, he moved to Ub and got a job as an assistant merchant. In 1939 he joined the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia , in September 1941 he was admitted to the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.
He went into the partisan underground in August 1941, joining the Tamnava company of the Posavsky partisan detachment. He took part in the battles for Šabac, Krupan and the defense of Uzice. After the partisans retreated to Sanjak at the end of 1941, he joined the 6th Belgrade battalion of the 1st proletarian shock brigade.
During the battles for Sitnitsa, Milan made an extraordinary feat - in deep snow he reached the German bunker, grabbed the trunk of a German machine gun with his hands and grabbed it from the machine gunner’s hands, eliminating the enemy in a matter of seconds. Milan performed no less than feats in the battles for Livno in August 1942, for which he received personal praise from Josip Broz Tito.
In October 1943, Munyas graduated from the First Officer Course at the High Headquarters of the NOAU , after which he was appointed commander of the 3rd company in the 6th Belgrade battalion. In December 1943, near the village of Shuitsa, near Duvna, Milan Munyas fell in battle during an attempt to assault German positions and capture their bunkers and bunkers.
By a decree of the Presidium of the People’s Assembly on December 20, 1951, he received the posthumous title of People’s Hero of Yugoslavia.
