History
Nineteen-year-old citizen of the Sardinian kingdom Joseph Louis Lagrange , originally from Turin , was appointed professor of mathematics at the royal artillery school in Turin in 1755 [1] . Lagrange organized a scientific society there, from which the Turin Academy was formed two years later.
The first volume of the works of the Academy appeared in 1759 ; Of particular interest were the articles of Lagrange himself. Academic works, in which well-known mathematicians took part, were published in Latin until 1784, then began to be published in French . [one]
In 1760, the Academy was given the title of royal [1] .
Among its Russian members was, in particular, Fedor Andreevich Giltebrandt [2] .
