Biography
Born on August 16, 1945 in the city of Creteil .
She began her musical career in 1962 after being noticed by Claude Carrère, a French producer and songwriter. Annie's parents signed a contract with her when she was 16 years old. Their cooperation lasted more than 20 years and ended in a court during which Sheila sued her fees, which were not paid extra to her. In 1962, she recorded the first single “Avec toi”, a few months later the “star” “L'Ecole est finie”, the circulation of which quickly exceeded a million copies. By the end of the decade, Sheila had five full-length albums and two dozen minions, but did not give concerts at all (due to fainting during the first tour), she first appeared before her fans only in the 1980s.
During the 1960s and 80s, Sheila recorded a large number of hits. Repeatedly led the French charts in the 1960-70s [2] [3] [4] .
During the heyday of the disco style, she sang in English as part of the Sheila and B. Devotion group "(1977-1980). The single "Spacer" (1979) was a success in European countries and America. In Europe, cover versions of " Singin 'In The Rain ", "You Light My Fire", as well as the singles "Love Me Baby", "Seven Lonely Days" and others were popular.
On February 13, 1973, she married singer Ringo , with whom she released the single “ Les Gondoles à Venise ”, fr ) at the same time in February. The song reached the first line of the national hit parade and became very popular in the country. On April 7, 1975, the couple had a son, Louis. November 30, 1979 Sheila and Ringo divorced. On July 7, 2017, Louis passed away at the age of 42 years [5] .
The wedding witness from the bride (Sheila) was Claude Francois , with whom she was friends from the moment she met in 1963 until his death in 1978. The wedding was also attended by the famous singer Dalida , with whom Sheila had long-standing friendships.
In the world sold 85 million copies of Sheila's records [6] . At the end of 2015, the official sales of her CDs in France amounted to about 28 million copies, and by this indicator she is the most successful singer on the French music market in his entire history [7] . She became the second French singer (after Edith Piaf ), whose song hit the US Billboard . Also repeatedly hit the charts of European countries [2] .
