Pompeyan, most likely, was of Syrian descent, since, obviously, he was a representative of the Clavdiev Pompeian family from Antioch-on-Oronta . It is possible that he was a descendant of the consul of 173 Tiberius Claudius Pompeian . There is a military diploma in the Romano-German Central Museum, which mentions consul-suffice Lucius Claudius Pompeian, who held this position between 202 and 203. He was probably the father or grandfather of Claudius Pompeian.
In 241, Pompeian served as an ordinary consul with Emperor Gordian III [1] [2] . There is also a Greek inscription dated to the year 244, which calls Pompeian the curator of religious buildings in Rome ( lat. Consularis aedium sacrarum ) [3] .
