Youth

Ibrahim Dzusov was born March 3 (new style - 16 ) in March 1905 in the village of Zamankul (now the Right - Bank District of North Ossetia ) in a peasant family. The family was poor, so I had to work as a shepherd from an early age. He graduated from junior high school.

He participated in the Civil War in Russia , being from 1919 to 1920 a fighter of the CHON detachment at Beslan station. In 1921 he entered the Communist University of the East Workers named after I.V. Stalin in Moscow , where he studied for only one year. Since 1922, he was secretary of the revolutionary committee of the village of Zamankul, and from April 1923, he was an instructor of the Komsomol district committee for working with youth.

Pre-War Service

In March 1924, Dzusov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1927 he graduated from the North Caucasian highland nationalities cavalry school in Krasnodar. Since May 1927, he served as platoon commander of the 30th Saratov Cavalry Regiment of the 5th Stavropol Cavalry Division named after Comrade. Blinova ( North Caucasian Military District , the regiment was stationed in Novocherkassk ). Since October 1927 he served in the air force, undergoing an internship for an observer pilot of the 13th air brigade. In October 1928 he was sent to study as a pilot, and in 1929 he graduated from the 3rd military school of pilots and observer pilots named after K.E. Voroshilov in Orenburg . From October 1929 to June 1932 he served as an observer pilot of the 31st Air Squadron of the 7th Air Brigade of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Military District .

In 1933 he graduated from the 2nd military school of pilots named after Osoaviahim in Borisoglebsk . Since December 1933, he served in the 119th fighter squadron of the 95th aviation brigade of the Air Force of the Transcaucasian Military District : flight commander , navigator of the squadron , and since October 1936, the navigator flag navigator. Since April 1938 - assistant commander, and since January 1939 - commander of the 45th Fighter Aviation Regiment ( Baku ). From September 1939 to May 1940 he studied at the Air Force Academy named after prof. N.E. Zhukovsky , he graduated from the academy in absentia in 1941 [2] . He returned to the command of the same regiment.

World War II

In the first months of the war he continued to command the 45th Fighter Aviation Regiment in Baku. Since January 1942 - on the fronts of World War II , when the regiment was transferred to the Air Force of the Crimean Front . After the catastrophic defeat of the troops of the Crimean Front near Kerch in May 1942, the regiment flew to the Taman Peninsula , and from there, after replenishment on July 10, 1942, arrived in Sevastopol . The regiment fought in the last month of the defense of Sevastopol , where its pilots shot down 25 German planes. On July 1, 1942, the regiment was withdrawn to the Caucasus a second time. In the summer of 1942, the regiment was included in the 229th Fighter Aviation Division of the 4th Air Army of the Transcaucasian (then North Caucasian ) Front, and participated in the battle for the Caucasus . In the spring of 1943, the regiment took part in the air battle in the Kuban and for excellent military operations (36 enemy aircraft were shot down) in June 1943 was transformed into the 100th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment [3] .

Since May 1943, Colonel Dzusov is the commander of the 216th mixed aviation division of the North Caucasus Front, which was transformed into the 9th Guards Fighter Aviation Division on June 17, 1943. As part of the 8th Air Army of the Southern and 4th Ukrainian Fronts, the division under his command successfully operated in the Donbass , Melitopol , Nikopol-Kryvyi Rih offensive operations, and also reliably covered the bridgeheads of Soviet troops from the air on Sivash in northern Crimea .

Since May 1944 - commander of the 6th Fighter Aviation Corps of the 16th Air Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . At the head of the corps, he went through the Belorussian , Vistula-Oder , East Pomeranian and Berlin offensive operations. The corps received the honorary name "Baranavichy" and was awarded the Order of Suvorov 2nd degree. By May 1945, pilots of his corps shot down 832 enemy aircraft in air battles [2] . During the war years I. Dzusov himself made 81 sorties, conducted 11 air battles, shot down 6 enemy aircraft personally and 4 in the group. Itself was shot down once in an air battle, landed by parachute.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 29, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of command missions in battles with the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Major General Aviation Ibrahim Dzusov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and a medal The Golden Star, numbered 4917 [2] .

Post-War Service

After the war, Dzusov continued to serve in the Soviet Army, until February 1946 he commanded the same corps. In 1948, he graduated from the Higher Military Academy named after K.E. Voroshilov . Since February 1946 - assistant commander for the combatant unit of the 16th Air Army in the Group of Soviet Occupation Forces in Germany , from June 1949 he served in the same position in the 57th Air Army of the Carpathian Military District. Since October 1951 - Head of the Krasnoyarsk Directorate of the Civil Air Fleet . In May 1955, Major General Aviation I.M. Dzusov was transferred to the reserve.

He lived in the city of Ordzhonikidze (now - Vladikavkaz ), was on administrative and economic work. In 1965 he retired, was engaged in social activities. He died on October 28, 1980, was buried in the pantheon of the Ossetian church in Vladikavkaz [2] .
