Biography
Yevgeny Dertev was born on December 20, 1918 in the city of Pavlovo (now the Nizhny Novgorod Region ) in a working-class family. He graduated from six classes of school. From 1933 he worked at the Pavlovsk Bus Plant , was a student of an electrician, then an electrician. In 1939, Dertev was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He served in the Far East . Since July 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in battles on the Bryansk , Central and Belarusian fronts. He participated in the Battle of Kursk , Chernigov-Pripyat operation. By October 1943, the corporal Yevgeny Dertev was a rifleman of the 1185th rifle regiment of the 356th rifle division of the 61st Army of the Central Front. Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
On October 15, 1943, Dertev, as part of a group, crossed the Dnieper on the territory of the Loevsky district of the Gomel region of the Byelorussian SSR and took an active part in the seizure of the bridgehead on its western bank. Later, in the course of the battle for the liberation of the village of Kolyban of the Bragin district, Dertev reflected enemy counterattacks for three days with machine-gun fire [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated January 15, 1944, the corporal Evgeny Dertev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 4382 [1] .
Later on, Dertev participated in the Gomel-Rechitsa operation . In one of the battles he was seriously wounded and contused , after which he was treated at the hospital for a long time. He never returned to the front, continued to serve in the reserve regiment. From January 1945, Dertev studied at the Gorky Tank School, but in 1946, in the rank of senior sergeant, he was dismissed for health reasons. He lived in the Kalinin region . In 1950 he returned to his hometown, where he worked at the Mekhinstrument factory. Died December 26, 1994 , buried in the city cemetery Pavlovo [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
