Biography
Luis Omar y Toboso was born in Barcelona on April 20, 1957. He studied at the Barcelona Autonomous University at the faculty of law, after which he entered the theater school of his native city.
In 1974, Luis began his professional acting career. He took part in the production of Othello directed by Angel Carmona. In 1976, together with other young actors, he founded the theater cooperative Lliure Teatre in Barcelona, where he worked without interruption for many years (being his artistic director from 1992 to 1998) and played in more than thirty plays.
In the same decade, the actor tries his hand at television, taking part in series and TV films. In 1981, the first glory came to Omar - paired with Sylvia Mount, he starred in Francesc Betriu’s drama Square of the Diamond.
European and world popularity came to the actor in the 2000s. In 2004, he starred with Pedro Almadovar in the acclaimed film " Bad Education ." In 2009, the experience of their collaboration was repeated in the film “ Open Hugs, ” where Omar played a beautiful love and passion story in a duet with Penelope Cruz . Louis Omar does not forget about TV and theater, regularly taking part in television productions and playing on stage.
