It begins in the forest a few miles east of the village of Kononovo, Pochinkovsky district, Smolensk region. The general direction of the flow to the west. The river flows through the village of Kononovo . Previously, the villages of Kocherga (near the source), Shapoval, Shishovo, Troitskaya, Kocherezhye, Novo-Ivanovka (near the mouth) were located on the river, but now they are all empty.
Several nameless streams flow into Kocherezhka.
