Yarmouth is a city and port in the southwest of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia on the shores of the Isle of Man . The administrative center of the eponymous district and the largest settlement of the eponymous county . The population of the city is 6,761 people.

In the XVIII and XIX centuries, the city was one of the centers of shipbuilding in Canada. During the Second World War , the city housed a naval base .
Currently, the city’s economy is mainly based on fishing and fish processing , but this industry has also been hit hard by the decline in catches. Fishing lobsters and scallops is becoming increasingly important.
The city houses the Yarmouth County Museum and Archive and a branch of the Nova Scotia Art Gallery .
