Biography
Fyodor Denisyuk was born on July 10, 1910 in the village of Turchinka (now Khoroshevsky district of the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine ) in a peasant family. In 1925 he graduated from five classes of the school. He lived and worked in Kuibyshev (now Samara ). In August 1941, Denisyuk was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since September of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the North Caucasian , Stepnoy , 3rd Ukrainian fronts. He was wounded three times in battles. By October 1943, Red Army soldier Fyodor Denisyuk was a shooter of the 4th company of the 177th Infantry Regiment of the 236th Infantry Division of the 46th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front. He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On the night of October 1 to 2, 1943, Denisyuk, as part of his squad, crossed the Dnieper and took an active part in the seizure of the bridgehead on its western shore. When the squad leader died, Denisyuk replaced him. On October 2 and 3, he actively participated in repelling several German counterattacks. In those battles, Denisyuk personally destroyed 27 enemy soldiers and officers. On October 3, while repelling the sixth counter-attack on the day, he was wounded in the chest, but did not leave the battlefield, continuing to fight. By evening, Denisyuk, who had lost a lot of blood, lost consciousness and was sent to the hospital [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 1, 1943, for “courageous initiative, heroism and courage shown in the battle when crossing the Dnieper,” Red Army soldier Fedor Denisyuk was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 1936 [ 1] .
In December 1945, with the rank of lieutenant, Denisyuk was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in the city of Viljaka, Latvian SSR . He died on December 28, 1948, was buried in Viljak in the cemetery of Erzhepoles [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
