Biography
Osip Denisov was born on August 2, 1912 in the village of Podlopatki (now the Mukhorshibir district of Buryatia ) into a peasant family. Brother Varflomeev Kirill Evgenievich who lives in the village of Kharashibir. He graduated from three classes of the school, after which he worked in the parent farm, later joined the collective farm . Since 1930, he lived in Kemerovo , worked on the construction of mines, and later became a slaughterer. In 1934 - 1936 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Demobilized, he arrived in Ulan-Ude , where he worked as a loader. In the fall of 1941, Denisov was re-drafted into the army. Since February 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the North-West , Stalingrad , Kalinin , 2nd Baltic fronts. By August 1944, the sergeant Osip Denisov commanded the detachment of the 341st Guards Rifle Regiment of the 119th Guards Rifle Division of the 10th Guards Army of the 2nd Baltic Front. He participated in battles in the territory of the Latvian SSR [1] .
On August 4, 1944, a group of soldiers led by Denisov through the swamp earlier than other units reached the Ayvikste River to the north-west of the village of Barkava, Madona District . At the same time, enemy forces retreated close across the river. Having removed the sentry, the group captured the enemy boat and began to cross. Taking advantage of the confusion of the enemy, Denisov ferried 25 soldiers on the boat. The group forced enemy troops to move away from the west coast of Iviekste. In the battle, Denisov personally destroyed 14 enemy soldiers and officers [1] [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of the command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Sergeant Osip Denisov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 5395 [1] [2] .
In November 1945, Denisov was demobilized. He lived in Ulan-Ude, worked as the commander of the paramilitary guard department. He died on August 25, 1957 [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals, including the medal "For Courage" (02/11/1944) [1] [3] .
Memory
Denisov’s bust is set in Podlopatki, the streets in Ulan-Ude and Podlopatki are named after him [1] .
