History
Created by teachers and students of the school, the museum was opened on March 16, 1968 . He is known around the world for his collection of historical documents on the topic: "Art and War" (more than 20 thousand originals). It is unique: not one of the museums in St. Petersburg speaks so fully and in detail about the spiritual life of the besieged city, about its huge creative potential demanded by residents during the war, about people of art, about the tragic fate of Leningraders. The idea of creating the museum belonged to the teacher of physical education .
The idea of the museum about the creative life of the besieged Leningrad belonged to Yevgeny Alekseevich Lind, the teacher of school No. 235, and was supported by the teaching staff and students of the school, as well as cultural and art figures of Leningrad who survived the blockade. The documents and things presented by them formed the basis of the museum's collection. Among the exhibits are personal items, documents and manuscripts of composers D.D. Shostakovich, B. Asafiev, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov , poet O. Bergholz , writer D. Granin , artists L. Delmas , P. Andreev , G. Bogdanova-Chesnokova , A. Beniaminov , participants in the dance ensemble A.E. Obranta , Leningrad artists and many others. In 1983, the museum received the title of "People". Since 1986, the head of the museum is Olga Geratsimovna Prutt.
In 2005, after the reconstruction of the building of 235 school named after D.D. Shostakovich for the museum built a separate four-story building. The exposition is located on the first three floors. The first floor is a hall of monumental sculpture, it is also a small concert hall. The second floor is dedicated to the creative intelligentsia of the besieged Leningrad, the Musical Comedy Theater and other theaters, propaganda brigades, and artists. A special section is dedicated to children. On the third floor - the exposition "The musical life of the besieged Leningrad", unique materials on the 7th symphony of D.D. Shostakovich. The winter blockade room was recreated.
