Poer ( Bret. Poc'hêr , FR. Poher ) - a county in central Brittany , as well as the historical region that exists on its territory. The name "Poer" comes from the Breton "Pou Kaer" (Pou is a country, comes from the Latin pagus; Kaer is a fortress, a fortified city). The capital of the county was Kare . Although Kare was founded by the Romans (called Vorgium), in the Middle Ages it almost merged with the neighboring city of Pluger. After the French Revolution, both cities became communes, and in 1956 they were united.

History
Legendary Counts
In the Carolingian era , Poer was the property of a powerful dynasty of counts. The legendary Earl of Conomore , who lived in the VI century, is famous for having killed all his wives, including the last, who is identified with Saint Tryphina . At the same time, he chopped off the head of their young son, Saint Tremere . according to the same legend, Saint Gilda miraculously placed Tremere's other head, and he threw a lump of earth at Konomor. Conomor immediately disappeared from the face of the earth. Konomora repeatedly mentions Gregory of Tours as a Breton count, as well as an adversary of the king of the Franks Chlothar . Conomore is also mentioned in the lives of the Breton saints.
In the fourteenth century, Poer is the larger of the two divisions (archdeaconhoods) of the Cornish bishopric (the second division is called Cornwall). Probably, in fact, from this time on, the name Poer replaced the name Cornuay .
Kingdom of Brittany vassals
In 839, Count Rivallon is mentioned. He was the father of Rivallon , Count of Cornwall , and Salomon , king of Brittany . In 871 , when Salomon was king of Brittany, Judicael is referred to as Count of Poer . The next count was Mathiedua , father of Alain I the Great . The further history of the county of Poer is unknown.
