Viral proteins

Viral proteins - proteins that are part of a viral particle or perform a different, non-structural function in the virus. Structural proteins form the viral envelope and capsid . In addition, there are viral non-structural proteins and viral regulatory and additional proteins .

Over 490 different viral proteins have been identified [1] . When combined, they can form viral inclusions .

Recently opened a database called the Viral Protein Structural Database (VPDB) ( Russian. Database of viral structural proteins ). It includes approximately 1,670 viral proteins from over 277 viruses with more than 465 strains . This database is freely available at the URL http://vpdb.bicpu.edu.in .
