Linear ( tat. Kmenny ) is a village in the Narimanov district of the Astrakhan region of Russia , the administrative center of the Lineininsky village council . The village is located on the shores of Ilmen Yarpak , 58 km west of Astrakhan.

Content
History
The village was founded on the Linear Route at the beginning of the 1790s by settlers from the village of Kamenny Yar of the Chernoyarsk district of the Astrakhan province [2] . In 1859, in the village of Lineina (Kamenka, Yangi-Kartuzan) there were 52 courtyards, a mosque, a salt pier, there lived 178 male and 181 female souls [3] .
In 1930 , the Victory collective farm was organized in Linein [4] .
In 1943, on the basis of the villages of Linein and Turkmenka , the Lineininsky Village Council of Workers' Deputies of the Narimanov District of the Astrakhan District of the Stalingrad Region was formed . With the formation of the Volga region in June 1944, the Lineininsky Village Council was transferred to the Volga region of the Astrakhan region, and in January 1963, in connection with the liquidation of the Priozhsky district, was transferred to the Narimanov district [5]
Physical-geographical characteristic
The village is located in the south of the Narimanov district , within the western Ilmen-hillock plain , which is part of the Caspian lowland . The village occupies a small parcel of land, bounded in the north, east and south by Ylpak ilmen, in the west by the Kizlyar- Astrakhan railway line [6] .
The climate is sharply continental , extremely dry (according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification - Bsk ).
The soil cover is complex: brown semi-desert soils are widespread on the Baer bumps, and boggy and meadow-meadow soils are found in the inter-hill depressions [7] . The distance to the capital of Astrakhan region of Astrakhan is 58 km, to the district center of the city of Narimanov - 89 km [8] . The nearest settlement - the settlement at Lineynaya station is located on the opposite bank of the Ymenpak ilmenya.

The population for 2012 is 886 people. 80% of the population are Tatars . Kazakhs (14%) and Russians also live there. [17]
Social Infrastructure
The village has several shops, a center of culture and sports. Medical care for the villagers is provided by a medical clinic. Secondary education residents of the village receive in secondary school Narimanovskogo district number 6.
