Lag

Delay (shutter lag) - the delay between pressing the shutter-release button on the camera and the actual opening of the shutter [1] . Making shooting fast-moving events and moving objects difficult.

Consists of [2] :

  • The autofocus response time for cameras equipped with it is overcome by preliminary focusing.
  • Mirror up time for single-lens reflex cameras - professional models can preliminarily raise the mirror , with the loss of functionality of the mirror viewfinder .
  • Image display delays on the electronic viewfinder of a digital camera. It is overcome by the use of an optical sight if available. In modern cameras, the problem is irrelevant, because it was generated by the low speed of processors, increased in new models.

The smallest time delay is possessed by rangefinder and scale cameras that do not require any action before the shutter is released. Minimum lag is also provided by single-lens reflex cameras with a fixed translucent mirror, for example, “ Canon Pellix ” [3] .
